The District Council is set to open the next round of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) applications on Monday 4 July 2022.
Applications are open to Huntingdonshire's town and parish councils and infrastructure providers, with invites to apply to be sent out shortly. CIL is a planning charge placed on developers that allows local authorities to assist in the funding and delivery of infrastructure within the local area to support the needs arising from growth.
Executive Councillor for Planning, Cllr Tom Sanderson, said: "Utilising the Community Infrastructure Levy that the District Council receives is an important way that we can support and strengthen our communities, ensuring that we can contribute funds to projects that are going to have a real impact locally. We are already seeing success stories from previous CIL supported projects, and we are committed to support the development of infrastructure that enables district wide and localised growth, improving the supply of new and affordable housing, jobs, and vital community facilities."
Previous applications for CIL funds have resulted in the support and improvement of many projects across the district including in the last round:
-
£48,000 for Godmanchester Mill Weir
-
£50,000 for Great Ouse Valley rights of way
-
£47,136 for Ramsey St Mary's recreation ground
-
£1,495,184 for Hinchingbrooke Country Park
-
£271,000 for Hinchingbrooke Hospital and
-
£150,000 for Sawtry 3G pitch.
This brings the total District Council CIL investment for the previous round of applications to £2,061,320.
