Cllr Jim White at the road safety event
Huntingdonshire District Council supported an event, hosted by Magpas, to highlight road safety issues.
On the first day of Road Safety Week, 20 November, representatives from local authorities, schools and emergency services across Cambridgeshire met at the Magpas Operations Base at RAF Wyton to raise awareness of road safety issues.
A huge show of people and vehicles from all the organisations represented gathered, all sporting a sticker that reminds people of the five most common factors in road traffic accidents. These are:
- using a mobile phone whilst driving
- not wearing a seatbelt
- being under the influence whilst behind the wheel and
- driving too close to the car in front.
Cllr Jim White, Executive Councillor for Operations, who attended the event, said: "We are very proud to support this road safety initiative to highlight the five major causes of road traffic collisions. Huntingdonshire District Council takes road safety extremely seriously and we have a superb in-house training programme for all our drivers, with an excellent safety record per miles covered."
