Huntingdonshire District Council held a brief ceremony on Monday 12 July 2017 at 10am to fly a flag to to commemorate the anniversary of the start of the Battle of Britain. The ceremony was led by the council’s chairman, Cllr Richard West.
The Royal Air Force Ensign flag was blessed by Padre Eddie Wynn before being raised to the Last Post played by RAF Wyton Voluntary Bandsman Lewis Bourne. A two-minute silence was held with its ending signalled by the Reveille being played. The ceremony then heard short speeches by Group Captain (retired) Ronald Saunders and Wing Commander Philip Owen, Commanding Officer of RAF Wyton.
