Bus Shelters

As part of a contract between Hunts DC and Primesight, part of the Scottish Media Group, a range of advertising and non-advertising bus shelters are provided across the District.

As part of Phase 1 during 2003, 30 shelters with advertising were installed, together with 5 containing no adverts.

Phase 2 of the programme was completed during Summer 2005. This has provided a further 5 shelters with advertising and 19 with no adverts bringing the overall total across the District to 59 shelters. This second phase included part funding from the District Council and some sites in Huntingdon have also benefited from raised kerb installation to allow low floor bus access. Further funding contributions were also made by Huntingdon Town Council, Brampton Parish Council and Bury Parish Council.

Huntingdon Bus/Rail Interchange

As part of our work on delivering the programme of work arising from the Huntingdon & Godmanchester Transport strategy, a new Interchange is to be built at Huntingdon Railway Station. This is being jointly funded by the District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council and has an estimated value of £130K.

Public consultation was undertaken at the station during November 2004 and planning permission has now been granted. Following consultation, minor amendments to the forecourt were addressed.

Following delay caused by the fire in the Ticket Office, final consent has now been granted from the relevant Rail Authorities to commence work on site. It is planned that these works will take place between January and March 2007.
