A Shot Of Sambuca (14/05/08)

photo of Michael Copley and Peter Martins

This entertaining concert from Sambuca - Michael Copley and Peter Martin - showcases an eclectic variety of music plundered from across the world.  Crossing the years and ranging from very early works through renaissance and baroque to some from the 20th century, the mix of music has an immediate appeal to all audiences – especially as the pieces are introduced with some style by the players.

The concert features guitar, baroque guitar, charango, lute, flutes, panpipes, recorders and ocarina.  Composers include:  Isaac Albeniz, Antonio Vivaldi, William Byrd, Carl Nielsen, John Dowland, Diogenio Bigaglia, Santiago de Murcia, Michael Praetorius and Antonio (Tom) Carlos Jobim, as well as some traditional folk music from England, Romania and Argentina.

Sambuca’s concerts are informal, very enjoyable and suitable for anyone who loves music, including children and young people who may be learning an instrument themselves.  Tickets for under-18s have been kept at £3 and adult tickets are £6.50 & £8.50.

The full programme can be downloaded by clicking on the link on the right, where you can also find more in-depth information about the performers.
