An exciting calendar of culinary events are taking place at venues across the district this September at Huntingdonshire second food and drink festival.
The Huntingdonshire Food and Drink Festival aims to showcase the array of top quality produce and local suppliers within the district as well as encouraging people to think local and reduce their food miles to help the environment.
Taking place during British Food Fortnight, the festival runs from Thursday 25 September to Monday 29 September.
Festival events include The Huntingdonshire 2008 Food and Drink Awards, run by the Hunts Post in association with Huntingdonshire District Council, special menus at participating restaurants, the hunt for the best sandwich in Huntingdonshire competition, a Young chef’s competition at Saxongate in Huntingdon and much more.
The main event at Wood Green on the Sunday will showcase local producers, suppliers and retailers demonstrating the quality of local food and drink on offer. Judging of the best sandwich competition and a ready steady cook event will also take place during the day. Further details of the festival’s events will be unveiled over the coming months.
Corrine Garbett, Economic and Sustainable Development Manager said; “I am really excited about Huntingdonshire’s second food and drink festival. Huntingdonshire has a wealth of interesting, high quality local produce which is bought and enjoyed by an ever increasing number of people, residents and visitors alike. I hope the festival will bring to people's attention what is on offer and where to find it!”
There is still ample opportunity for participants and local businesses to be part of the festival by either sponsoring the event or organising your own event.
