Families are invited to Paxton Pits Nature Reserve to learn all about trees and hedges on Saturday 8 March. Two sessions are available, 10.00am to Noon and 1.30pm to 3.30pm where rangers from the reserve will show you how to identify trees, date a hedgerow and help you to be creative with sticks, paint, cobwebs and lichens.
“During March the trees will all be in bud, but very few will be in leaf. However, it is still quite easy to identify them by their form, bark and buds”, said Jim Stevenson, Huntingdonshire District Council’s Senior Ranger at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. “As well as identifying trees we will also learn how to date a hedgerow, make natural mobiles and other works of art.”
This is a family event and therefore all children must be accompanied by an adult. The minimum age is 7 and the cost is £2.50 per child. Booking is essential. Please telephone the rangers to book a place on 01480 451568.
