Over 20 different types of dragonfly can be seen during the summer months at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. You are invited to come and learn to recognise some of these spectacular insects on a half day course at the Reserve on Sunday 29th June, 10.00am until 1.00pm. The course is organised by the Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve and will be led by Henry Curry from the Dragonfly Project.
“We are lucky at Paxton Pits in that we have lots of wetland habitat suitable for dragonflies. The River Great Ouse flows alongside the reserve and we have several lakes as well as ditches and ponds” said Huntingdonshire District Council Senior Ranger, Jim Stevenson. “More than 20 different species of dragonfly have been recorded at Paxton Pits and in the last few years some rare species have also been seen. Henry Curry is very knowledgeable and has been watching dragonflies for over 15 years so I’m sure it will be a very interesting morning.”
Dragonfly Basics is suitable for ages 13+ and under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult. The places are £6 per person and are limited. Please telephone 01480 451568 to book your place.
