Young Anglers (23/07/08)

Did you know angling is the most popular sport in the UK – come rain or shine river banks are frequently dotted with green umbrellas shading or sheltering the keen fisherman underneath.  If you are aged between 12 and 16, and would like to learn more about this pastime and pick up hints and tips from experienced coaches, then read on.

There will be five sessions for budding young anglers at Barford Road Pocket Park and two sessions at Hinchingbrooke Country Park with a Match Day at Barford Road Pocket Park on Friday 24th August.

Sessions at Barford Road Pocket Park will take place from 10am to 2pm, every Friday from 25 July to 22 August, with Match Day on 29th August.  We will meet at 10am in the back car park of St Neots Leisure Centre.

Sessions at Hinchingbrooke Country Park will take place from 10am to 2pm on 28 July and 4 August
We will meet at 10am at the Visitors’ Centre

The sessions are for 12–16 year olds, and include instruction by a Sport for England Level 2 Angling Coach and all tackle and bait.  You can either use our equipment or bring your own if you prefer.  The cost is £4.00 per session.  Please book in advance on (01480) 451568, as spaces are limited.

The Match Day will consist of anglers from both Barford Road Pocket Park and Hinchingbrooke Country Park Young Anglers sessions.  Instruction, some tackle and bait will be provided.  There will be prizes for first, second and third place.  Limited places are available, so please book in advance.  To take part in the Match Day you must have attended one of our previous ‘Young Anglers’ sessions.

This event has been made possible by the support of Huntingdon Town Council and The Environment Agency.
