Schools across Huntingdonshire have been benefiting from sports activities and sports days run by Huntingdonshire District Council’s Leisure Development team.

Middlefield Primary School in St Neots enjoyed a multi-sports day where all key stage 2 children got to try a variety of sports during the day including basketball, athletics, hockey, tri-golf and dodgeball.

The service aims to provide the schools with knowledge and guidance from experienced sports coaches and leader, the opportunity to promote alternative activities and to get all children participating. Other schools to benefit from the multi-sports days are Brington Primary School and Somersham Primary School.

In addition the team also supported schools with more formal sports days, helping to organise competitions in athletic events at Barnabas Oley Primary School and Overhills Primary School.

Martin Grey, Senior Sports Development Officer said; “The schools really benefited from the help provided in the run up to the events and also on the day having staff present with past experience of running sports days. It is excellent to see the schools keen to provide extra sporting activities for the children”.
