A special evening of moth magic, to include moth trapping and releasing, is taking place at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve on 12 July from 9.30pm onwards, and everyone is invited by the Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve to learn more about the magic of moths.

“Moths are fascinating and far more colourful than many people imagine” said Huntingdonshire District Council’s Senior Ranger, Jim Stevenson.  “There is such a variety around at this time of year and they have interesting names such as The Drinker and the Beautiful Carpet.  Experts will be on hand to help identify the moths that are caught so let’s hope for a nice warm evening.”

The event is free and there is no need to book.  You just need to bring a torch and something to sit on and wear warm clothes.  The event is dependent on good weather so please contact the rangers on 01480 406795 or Faith Darlow on 01480 214026 to make sure it’s still going ahead.

Paxton Pits Nature Reserve lies just off the A1, north of St Neots, at the end of Little Paxton High Street.
