Special Needs Messy Play (28/07/08)

Hinchingbrooke Country Park is a great setting for messy play as there is plenty of space for making a really BIG mess!

Do you have a child with a learning disability, sensory impairment or multiple disabilities who will enjoy a morning of messy play?  Huntingdonshire District Council Countryside Services Ranger, Judith Arnold, will be leading a session of fun activities on Thursday 7 August between 10.30am and 12.30pm. The activity will be organised so the children can choose one or all of the materials to work with – bubbles, water, compost, sand glue or paint.  Children will be welcome to come and go as they need to suit their attention span.  Parents or carers will be expected to stay and brothers and sisters are welcome to join in.

“Please come wearing old clothes and expect to go home looking messy!” said Judith “We hope to create some large scale masterpieces using the paint, as well concentrating on textures and different feelings, using fingers or even feet to paint with. If the weather is fine, we will be based in the field so any water spillages are not a problem and bubbles can be launched into the air. It promises to be a fun packed session.”

Rangers will try to accommodate all needs.  Please tell us about any special requirements when you book.  The event will take place at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on Thursday 7 August, 10.30 am to 12.30pm. The cost is £4.00 per child (carers free).  There are limited places. Please phone 01480 451568 for further information or to book a place.
