The showcase event, Food Fest 2008 at Wood Green Animal Shelter, Godmanchester on Sunday 28 will showcase local producers, suppliers and retailers demonstrating the quality of local food and drink on offer right on our doorstep. The one day food extravaganza will start at 10am till 4pm and will have lots of local exhibitors, with food demonstrations, tasting, sales, ‘have a go’ sessions, a cookery competition, beer, music, wine tasting and much more. There’ll be plenty of opportunity, too, for the kids to get involved by visiting the education zone or by rolling up their sleeves and trying their hand at different cooking skills.  Shopmobility vehicles will be available at the festival for disabled visitors.

Plus a special Farmers’ Markets, a food quiz, and much more. There will be something for everyone, all taking place during the five day celebration of local food and drink.

Corrine Garbett said; “Thriving local food businesses are so important for the local economy. They are truly sustainable and healthy because food is travelling fewer miles over a shorter time span, so it is fresher and money goes back into the local area. Make sure you put the dates in your diary, it will be fun for the whole family and you will also be supporting your local food and drink producers.”

The festival is being managed by Huntingdonshire District Council and sponsored by Anglian Water, Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, The Huntingdon Marriott, The Hunts Post and The Old Bridge.
