Councils Call Centre Gains Prestigious Charter Mark (03/01/08)


Contact centre staff being congratulated for gaining the charter mark

Huntingdonshire District Council’s call centre has been awarded the prestigious Charter Mark for their hard work and excellent customer service. Charter Mark is the government's national standard for public services that display customer service excellence.

The call centre has specially trained staff that deals quickly and efficiently with hundreds of calls coming into the council on a daily basis using state of the art telephony equipment. The team achieved the Charter Mark by providing evidence of how they met six criterions for the charter Mark standard.

The award was given after a rigorous inspection by an external assessor who examined documentary evidence, watched staff at work, and spoke to them, council partners and, most importantly, service users.
In the report, the assessor praised the staff and described the efforts of the contact centre as “professional and highly committed to delivering a high quality service to customers”

Michelle Greet, Call Centre Manager said; “I am delighted that the Charter Mark has been achieved at our call centre. We have a fantastic team of customer service professionals who take pride in helping customers and this is reflected in the number of compliments we receive on a weekly basis. At the call centre we are continuously reviewing and improving what we do to enhance our customers' experience and I feel this award recognises that and is well deserved”.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Bates, said; “The Charter Mark award is excellent news, we're already recognised as an 'excellent' council and this Charter Mark status adds even greater value. I would like to congratulate all the staff who have worked hard and this award demonstrates how everyone is committed to providing the people of Huntingdonshire with the best level of service possible”.

This award is particularly pleasing because it is about how we treat our customers and respond to their needs, and continually improving customer service is very important to us. Receiving this recognition is a result of much hard work. A big well done to everyone."
