Volunteers at Sudbury Meadow in Eaton Ford, St Neots, who have taken part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch for a number of years are inviting local residents to join them in counting birds for this year’s event at 11am on Saturday 26 January, 2008.
All sorts of birds have been recorded from the shy, wintering, redwing to the familiar robin.
Alison Pearson, chair of Friends of Sudbury Meadow, said: "Taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch gives us an opportunity to watch the birds and how they use the meadow, rather than just catching a glimpse of them as we carry out the regular maintenance work. We are also hoping to see what is using our gardens, particularly the purposely designed bird garden."
To join in the Big Garden Birdwatch at Sudbury Meadow, wrap up warmly, bring a pair of binoculars and be prepared to sit or stand quietly for an hour. The Friends will provide guides and recording sheets. Counting will start at 11am, so please arrive at the Crosshall Road entrance ten minutes beforehand. Car parking is at nearby Riverside Park car park.
