Swimathon is a national event with up to 20,000 swimmers participating at 500 swimming pools across the UK. Participants can choose various distances to swim either as an individual or as a team.
The leisure centre swimming pools in Huntingdon, Ramsey and Sawtry are all joining in with the event and invite you to be part of raising £1.8 million for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation. In the past 21 years almost half a million swimmers have helped raise over £30 million for charities.
Duncan Goodhew, Olympic Gold medallist and president of The Swimathon Foundation said "Swimming is a great overall workout. It uses every muscle group in the body whilst burning more calories than other activities, such as running, and is one of the government’s targeted sports to reduce obesity. Swimathon is not only a great form of exercise for all, but a great team activity for friends, families and colleagues."
Swimathon sessions will take place at the following times:
Huntingdon Friday 18th April 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Saturday 19th April 4.00pm – 6.00pm
Ramsey Saturday 19th April 4.00pm – 7.00pm
Sawtry Saturday 19th April 5.30pm – 7.30pm
