summer activities at the Little Paxton Roadshow

The summer holidays are finally here and the leisure development summer activity programme had begun. The programme is designed to provide young people with opportunities to try something new and have a go at different sports, as well as providing activities within local communities through the free activity roadshows.

Chairman of the Council, Councillor John Davies was present at the roadshow in Little Paxton to help get the programme started. The roadshows provide play activities and games of a sporting nature for six – 12 year olds.

Councillor Davies said; “I feel it is very important to provide accessible activities to young people in their local communities. The summer programme that is provided by our leisure development team has a great variety of activities on offer that I hope many young people will take advantage of and find enjoyable.”

Some of the courses still have places available, which include climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, sailing and golf. The roadshows are also running every afternoon throughout the holidays in towns and villages across the district. Plus there are also street sports sessions for 13 – 19 year olds taking place in Little Paxton, Brampton, Somersham and Buckden in the evenings.

Martin Grey, Senior Sports Development Officer said; “Our holiday programme is expanding each year to provide more choice and opportunities. The aim is to keep young people active during their holidays as well as getting them involved with their local sports clubs.”
