Coneygear Park, Huntingdon has been kitted out with five pieces of new gym equipment for fitness sessions to further encourage local residents to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
The equipment is aimed at all ages from 12 year up to the over 60’s and is a marvelous opportunity for local residents to exercise out in the open air without having to travel to a gymnasium.
Councillor Colin Hyams, executive councillor for operations and countryside services and Vice Chairman of the Council, Councillor Jeff Dutton officially launched the equipment last Thursday along with other council representatives and the healthy walks group, who will be using the equipment for a warm up session prior to their walks.
Councillor Colin Hyams said; "This gym is a breath of fresh air for our residents and a great way to get fit this summer without paying a penny. It is a fun and innovative way to enjoy the green spaces available in the district, which could further help residents to undertake their recommended daily exercise. I hope the town and parish council are encouraged by this idea for other green spaces in the area.”
Brian Gardner Ranger at Coneygear said; “We hope the equipment proves to be popular with the local community and people of all ages take advantage of the opportunity to work out in the park.”
Coneygear Park is a newly developed community park situated to the north of Huntingdon between Oxmoor and Hartford. What was a flat field is now landscaped and planted with over 1700 native trees and shrubs. The park is open to the public at all times, and is a great environment for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
