St Neots and Sawtry Leisure Centres are celebrating after being awarded Quest’s ‘Highly Commended’ status as all of the leisure centres run by Huntingdonshire District Council participate in the Quest accreditation scheme.
Quest is an industry recognised quality scheme for sports and leisure providers across the UK. The assessments focus on all aspects of Leisure Centre management including health and safety, cleanliness, programming, marketing, customer care and staffing.
This is an outstanding achievement as this is the first time both centres have undergone the process. Only 11 per cent of leisure centres in the country have achieved “Highly Commended” status or above at their first attempt.
Councillor Doug Dew, executive councillor for leisure, said “Quest is a rigorous process which examines all aspects of Leisure Centres in great detail. To have reached the position we have is justified reward for the hard work and effort of many staff over a long period”.
Huntingdon and Ramsey Leisure Centres have also successfully completed their Quest assessments and are waiting final confirmation. St Ivo Leisure Centre will be assessed in 2009.
