Huntingdonshire District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Panel (Service Support) is taking action to help the residents of St Audrey Lane and Warren Road, St Ives who experience continuing problems with flooding from the foul sewerage system in the area during times of heavy rainfall.

The issue was initially raised by a petition signed by 26 local residents and presented to the Panel who decided to investigate who was responsible and find a satisfactory solution.

Having listened to the concerns of local residents and been advised of the outcome of discussions and correspondence with Anglian Water, the Panel have invited a representative from Anglian Water to attend a future meeting to discuss the way forward.

Councillor Jonathan Gray who chairs the panel, said: “Clearly this is an unpleasant situation for the residents and we are keen to help them resolve this issue at the earliest opportunity.  In this respect, we very much hope that Anglian Water will accept the invitation to attend our meeting to discuss the way forward  In the meantime, I would encourage residents to report all incidents and problems as and when they arise to Anglian Water to make sure they are registered and investigated.
