The Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park are holding their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 8 May at 7.30 pm, and would welcome anyone who wishes to attend.
Over the past twelve months the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park have raised an incredible £4,000 by organising a sponsored run, wine tasting evening and Christmas gift sale. This money has been used to start improvements to the entrance of the country park and provide plants to improve the habitat in the Wash.
Chairman of the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Joyce Day said; “The committee works hard to raise funds to improve facilities and support the work of the rangers. We are concentrating on raising funds to further improve the entrance to the park as well providing cameras to watch birds feeding and relay pictures into the visitors’ centre.
Joyce added; “We are always looking for new projects and more people willing to help. As a committee we meet three times a year and share the responsibility of running friends’ events between members. This could be in the form of administration or practical tasks and assisting in the park café”.
During the evening there will also be a photographic presentation entitled - Peru rainforest wildlife and research. The presentation will show a brief journey from Cusco to secondary rainforest with information on the plants and wildlife including colourful parrots, monkeys and butterflies.
This meeting in the countryside centre is open to everyone. It provides the opportunity for park users to hear what has happened in the last year, to give comments and suggestions about future events and to feel part of the user group.
