The new electronic touch-screen kiosk in Market Square, St Neots, where visitors and local residents are able to access a wealth of tourist and community information on-line was officially opened on Wednesday 10 October 2007.
There to open the new kiosk was District Councillor Andrew Hansard and John Davies of the St Neots Town Initiative.
The kiosk will compliment the St Neots tourist information centre and is similar to those already operating successfully in Huntingdon, St Ives and Ramsey. It incorporates the latest design and technological features and has two screens, one primarily for wheelchair and child users, the second for other users.
John Davies of the St Neots Town Centre Initiative said; ” I am delighted to have this new kiosk in St Neots which is funded by the EEDA Quality of Place Grant and Huntingdonshire District Council. The kiosk will support the other channels of communication that already exist in the town, including the tourist information centre and tourist information points in car parks and other locations.”
Councillor Andrew Hansard Executive Councillor for Policy and Strategic Resources said, “The success of this project is the result of partnership working between the district council and the St Neots Town Initiative. The new kiosk allows us to provide another means of delivering tourism and other council information in a cost effective and inclusive way with facilities for the disabled and able-bodied user. It shares the advantages of our council web site in that the information is available continuously, on demand and in an easy to use format.”
The new kiosk compliments the way Huntingdonshire District Council delivers its tourism services in St Neots via the Tourism Information Centre in New Street who may be contacted on 01480 388788 or by email using the link on the right.
