The community nursery in Godmanchester is the proud owner of two giant pumpkins. The pair, grown by volunteers at the nursery run by Huntingdonshire District Council weighed in at 73 kilos.

The volunteers grew the pumpkins from seed aptly named ‘Atlantic Giant’.

Project Officer, Mary Evans said; “The pumpkins will be used to make soup both for the volunteers at the nursery and for sale at Hinchingbrooke Country Park café. We will save some seeds from them and hopefully grow even larger ones next year.”

Individuals who are interested in helping at the nursery can ring 07920 722761 for more information, it is a great way to have some fun and meet other people. Groups and school are also welcome to visit the nursery, ring Mary Evans Project Officer on the above number to arrange a visit.
