Have you ever felt that you would like to show off your artistic talents? Perhaps you don’t know where your talents lie but would like to have a go? A day of drawing and art is being held at Hinchingbrooke Country Park for people of all ages, as part of the National Big Draw events on Thursday 25 October.
Budding artists can pick up a map and take themselves on a self-led tour of the park with art activities along the way, including creating collages and making leaf rubbings. There is also a wide range of activities in the countryside centre such as bird observations, a communal landscape painting and a large butterfly to be filled with decorated hand outlines.
“It will be a fun filled day for all ages and abilities” says Countryside Services Ranger Alison Gray, “Just come long and have some fun even if you think you cannot draw – everyone can doodle and you may well surprise yourself.
The event will explore patterns, textures and colour on an environmental theme. It costs just £1 per person and runs from 11am until 3pm, please book in advance on 01480 451568.
Judith Arnold Countryside Services Rangers explained; “There will be a trail to follow around the park, with opportunities to sketch or use water colours, to take prints and to try sculptures and collages in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. All materials will be provided and volunteers will be present to help”.
This is a family activity and part of the national BIG Draw event that happens each year. There will be something for every one and art work can be taken home or left to form part of a community art piece. Participants are invited any time between 11am and 3 pm; why not bring a picnic to make a whole day out. Remember to wear old clothes and to dress according to the weather!
