Families are being invited to celebrate the good old English apple and other fruits at the Apple Fair taking place at Coneygear Park, Huntingdon on Sunday 21 October, from 11.00 am – 3.00 pm. Activities will include apple pressing and tasting, apple archery, a fruit shy, badge making and guess the weight of the fruit basket.
There will also be an apple trail around the park with questions all about apples and an expert from an orchard in Kent will be on hand to have a go at identifying apples and to give advice about planting fruit trees and looking after them.
An apple press will be demonstrated throughout the day allowing local people to try making apple juice, and many varieties of Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire apples will be on display to taste and buy. Refreshments will be sold on the day including fruit cakes and pies.
“There will be lots of activities suitable for all the family at this event at Coneygear Park”, said Huntingdonshire District Council Countryside Services Ranger, Brian Gardner. “Anyone who has an apple tree in their garden with apples still on it can bring the fruit along and we’ll show them how to use the apple press. This is a simple process which people of all ages will enjoy.”
