St Ivo Outdoor Complex is set to benefit from a massive £1.5 million investment into its leisure facilities.
Huntingdonshire District Council expects to match a £0.5 million contribution from forthcoming developments in the west of St Ives, with an application to The Football Foundation for a grant of a further £1 million.
If successful, the centre will have new changing rooms, a training room, referees room, increased parking areas, cycle path and a new 3rd generation synthetic turf pitch.
With ever increasing demand for the centres facilities the new development is expected to increase attendances at the centre by over 30,000 a year.
Councillor Doug Dew, newly appointed portfolio holder for Leisure said “If the grant application to The Football Foundation is approved, we expect to undertake the work over the summer of 2008. This is a significant development for Huntingdonshire District Council’s Leisure Centres and one which will assist in our continuing drive to provide the best sports and leisure facilities in the area.”
