Stunning images of the local fen and its wildlife will be on view - and on sale - when a unique exhibition of paintings and prints comes to Huntingdon.
Inspired by the Great Fen Project, 30 artists from across Europe visited the area around Woodwalton and Holme Fens, producing work in a range of styles and on a variety of topics. The exhibition features over 50 works including delicate field sketches of birds and other animals, detailed ink and wash studies of plants and insects, and large landscapes and portraits in oil, acrylic and watercolour.
The exhibition runs from 27th to 30th November at the Saxongate Community Learning Centre, Bradbury Place, Huntingdon and is open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 10am to 8pm on Thursday – admission is free.
Artworks and books will be on sale and would make superb Christmas gifts. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Great Fen Project, an internationally important conservation scheme which aims to restore 3,700 hectares of land between Peterborough and Huntingdon to traditional fenland habitat, for the benefit of both people and wildlife.
