People are invited to come together at a Christmas wrapping demonstration and taster session taking place at the Angel Pub in Ramsey on Saturday 8 December.  The lounge will open between 10 -1pm for members of the public to drop in to get some tips about professionally wrapping gifts.  People can even bring their own small items and wrap them on the spot.

If Christmas decorations are something you would like to focus on, there will also be a demonstration of festive mantelpiece decorations and table displays made from holly, ivy and other materials which people are welcome to try out and take away with them.

The aim of the event is to provide something festive and social in the middle of the town in the lead up to Christmas. This is all part of the neighbourhood management approach which has arrived in the Ramsey area.

Penny Litchfield Neighbourhood Manager said; “We are keen to see social events take place in the area that bring people together and get them more interested in local affairs. We are also trying to work with other organisations to support them and to bring them together.”

For this event the Ramsey Learning community, an emerging voluntary organisation set up by the Cambridge and Peterborough Learning Trust, are being supported. Money has been awarded for this event and others in the coming year from the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities fund and Neighbourhood manager, Penny Litchfield and CPL Trust staff Lyn Barber have worked with local people to bring about this seasonal delight.

The Angel pub is a central landmark in the town centre and people out shopping are encouraged to come and have a look at what is on offer.  Louise Axelsen, from the Angel said “It will be a fun and festive day for all the family and all are welcome to come along and join in.”
