New for Yaxley, a free and accessible activity for everyone to be involved in. The Huntingdonshire Health Walks have been running for almost four years and are run in partnership with Huntingdonshire District Council and Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust. Walks are held in St Ives, St Neots, Huntingdon and Ramsey during the day throughout the week. Now, starting on Thursday 8 March, the health walks are coming to Yaxley.

The walks will take place on Thursdays and will meet at the Yaxley Community Information Project in the Broadway Shopping Centre. The first walk is on Thursday 8 March. It is recommended that you meet at 12.45 to meet the leaders and register. The walk will start at 1pm and will last approximately one hour.

Walking has been shown to have a huge benefit on physical health and wellbeing. Regular walking can increase your confidence levels, and stamina. There is no need for specialist equipment and is a low risk activity.

Lisa Curry, Health Walks Co-ordinator said, “We would like to invite the residents of Yaxley to join us on the Huntingdonshire Health Walks Scheme and look forward to walking with them.”

The walks will be led by qualified volunteer walk leaders unless otherwise stated. Monthly schedules are available from the Yaxley Community Information Project or your local library or surgery. The walks schedule can also be viewed on the link to the right.

New walkers are always welcome to come along and walk their way to health. It is recommended that you wear warm comfortable clothes to walk in as well as sensible sturdy footwear, such as trainers or walking shoes.
