An afternoon walk around Houghton Meadows near St Ives, will take place on Friday 14 June. The walk is organised by Huntingdonshire District Council’s countryside services team, whilst the meadow is owned by the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust.

St Ives sites ranger, Bridget Halford, said: “The walk is an opportunity to visit, and learn about, some of the last remaining traditional grazing meadows in the Ouse Valley. There is a lovely range of wildflowers in the meadow which should be at their best at this time.”

The walk starts at the entrance to the Meadows which are on the south side of the Thicket path, about 200 metres from the western end of the Thicket Wood. It begins at 2.30pm and will end at 4 pm. The walk is through long grass. Those attending are advised to wear suitable footwear.

Booking is not necessary but a donation of £2 per head is suggested to contribute towards the running costs of the meadow. For further information contact Bridget Halford on 07917 554057 or Hinchingbrooke Country Park on 01480 451568.
