Are you are fascinated by how people used to live? And are you interested in how we are affecting the archaeology of the future? Then make sure you don’t miss the fun packed hidden history day at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on Sunday 1 July.
Re-enactors, including Anglo Saxons, Celts & Romans, will show how people used to live and how we can learn to live more sustainably.
Throughout the day there will be a programme of events, including story telling, battles, and activities on recycling and sustainable living within the countryside centre. Displays and information on how people can minimise their impact will also be available.
“We can learn a lot from our ancestors” said David Crawford-White, archaeologist from CAM ARC the County’s Archaeological Field Unit, “They used local materials, re-used and repaired equipment and most items degraded very quickly, making our lives difficult as archaeologists”.
“Archaeologists of the future will have no problem working out how we are living today, we throw so much away and a lot of it will take thousands of years to decompose.” adds Huntingdonshire District Council Ranger Alison Gray “.
The event runs from 11am until 4pm and costs just £2 per person over the age of 16 for entry into the re-enactors arena. Entry to the countryside centre is free of charge. For further information call the rangers on (01480) 451568.
