Over 100 participants and supporters took part in the annual Huntingdonshire Disability Sports Forum Outdoor Festival at the St Ivo Outdoor Centre on Sunday 15 July.
The event provided disabled people with the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities, all on one day, completely free of charge. The activities included archery, cricket, tennis, football, rounders, tri-golf, boccia, netball, athletics, tag-rugby, zone hockey and goalball. There was also an adaptive t'ai chi session.
Festival Co-ordinator and Community Sport and Recreation Officer, David Reeve said; “It was fantastic to see such a large number of people join in with all the activities, it just shows the demand there is for disability sport in this area. The rain held off and everybody enjoyed the range of activities available.
Thanks must also go to Howzat Cricket Club, St. Ives Rugby Club, Huntingdon Tennis Club, St Ives Rangers Disability Football Team, St Ivo Outdoor complex and all the volunteers for making the day such a success.”
The event was organised by Huntingdonshire Disability Sports Forum and Huntingdonshire District Council and they would like to say a big thank you to Ipswich Town Football Club, Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s, Barrett’s and Boots for supplying prizes for the event which helped to raise over £100 for the Huntingdonshire Disability Sports Forum.
