For Brington Primary School sport was the only item on the agenda on Tuesday 19 June. As part of the school’s launch of healthy schools status, pupils spent the whole day taking part in sport to promote the health benefits that regular physical activity can have.

The day worked on a rotation system with all the children getting to try each sport that was on offer, which included high 5s netball, tag rugby, hockey, athletics and tri-golf.

The multi sports day was organised and run by Huntingdonshire District Council’s Leisure Development team to help provide quality coaching in different sports for the children to enjoy. The multi sports events in schools is an initiative the leisure development team are promoting to primary and junior schools across the district.

Martin Grey, Youth Sport Development Officer said, “It was a great day! All the children enjoyed the opportunity to take part in sport for the whole day. I was pleased Brington Primary School took the opportunity to get involved in the event and can only hope that more schools will take up the opportunity to benefit their pupils”.

Peter Allen, Head Teacher at Brington Primary School, said, “It was a fantastic day which all the children thoroughly enjoyed.  It was very well organised and the children got to try different sports that they would not normally have the opportunity to do. It has been just one of the many activities that have taken place this week to launch our Healthy Schools status”.
