Do you live in a property that is difficult to insulate and keep warm? Perhaps your home has solid walls, a mansard roof or dormer ceilings? If so, Huntingdonshire District Council may have the solution. It has teamed up with neighbouring councils in the region and Mould Growth Consultants Ltd to bring a special discounted offer to help keep out the cold. This new scheme is called ‘Cambridgeshire Warmer Walls’.
The solution is a product called Sempatap, which is thermal insulation on a roll. It’s as easy as wallpaper to apply. There is hardly any mess and it can be decorated with virtually anything – wall paper, emulsion paint – it is even possible to hang tiles on it. The product has been used in the UK for over 15 years by local authorities and housing associations.
Homes with solid walls, mansard roofs and dormer ceilings can lose up to 45 per cent of their heat. Condensation can also be a problem in these properties with cold walls, which can lead to black mould growth.
Councillor Nick Guyatt, executive councillor for environment and transport said: “This is an effective solution, particularly for hard to heat properties. We are pleased to be supporting Cambridgeshire Warmer Walls and helping people to stay warm in their homes, save money on their fuel bills and benefit the environment by reducing their energy consumption”.

Sempatap Thermal is an Energy Saving Trust ‘recommended product’.
