Are you interested in making bentwood furniture? Bentwood furniture is a type of rustic garden furniture made in the traditional American way.
Hinchingbrooke Country Park is running a two day weekend course to teach people how to make this special kind of garden furniture. The furniture is both graceful and practical and will be made of a framework of Hazel, with bent Willow used to create a curved back and arm supports.
The course will be held at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on 27 and 28 January. Both days begin at 10.00 am and finish 4.00 pm. You will be able to make, and take home with you, a complete chair. You will use materials cut from Hinchingbrooke Country Park. The fee for the whole weekend, including materials is £90.00.
Countryside Services Ranger, Peter Hobbs said: “Once people learn the basic construction method, they can go on to build benches and tables. It is surprisingly easy and quick to construct. The furniture is very charming. It is lovely to look at, lightweight, practical and it is particularly pleasing that it uses locally grown renewable, biodegradable materials.”
