Do you fancy adding something unique to your home or garden? Then why not join a day’s workshop at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, near St Neots to make bird nesting pouches and woven bird feeders. The workshop takes place on Saturday 17th February, 10.00am – 4.00pm and costs £30 per person, including all materials and tuition. Led by Sue Kirk, you will have the chance to learn how to work with different coloured willow in order to make and take home with you some natural-looking pouches and feeders to hang in your garden.
“Willow can be used to make baskets, garden fences and domes as well as seats and tunnels,” said Huntingdonshire District Council’s Countryside Ranger, Kirsty Drew. “Willow is very strong when woven together and the nesting pouches and woven bird feeders will last for years, always attracting birds and other wildlife to your garden. Sue Kirk is a brilliant teacher with a great deal of knowledge and experience of working with willow. It will certainly be a very enjoyable day – not only will you learn a new skill but you will take something home that you have made yourself!
The workshop, which is for 16 year olds and upwards, has limited places. To book a place on the Working With Willow Workshop, or for information about other Countryside Services Events, please telephone the Rangers on 01480 451568.
