At this time of year Huntingdonshire District Council’s food safety team are often asked for topical advice on how to have a safe Christmas.  The team has listed the top ten most frequently asked questions in an advice leaflet, which covers topics such as:

  • How do I know when my turkey is thoroughly cooked
  • What is the difference between use-by and sell-by dates?
  • I haven’t got enough fridge space at Christmas – what should I do?
  • What temperature should my fridge operate at?
  • Should I wash my turkey before I cook it?

The leaflet is available on our website using the link on the right or a copy can be posted. Please telephone 01480 388318 for a copy.

Councillor Mrs Deborah Reynolds, executive councillor for public health said: “Catering safely for large numbers can be a challenge in a domestic kitchen. We want people to have a happy Christmas and a safe one too, so please follow the excellent advice which our food safety team have produced.”
