Boxing Day Walk (19/12/07)

Walking on Boxing Day at Hinchingbrooke Country Park

One of the most popular events arranged by Huntingdonshire District Council Countryside Services is the walk at Hinchingbrooke Country Park organised every Boxing Day.

This year is no different; rangers will identify different routes for you to choose, including routes of various lengths.  There will be some fun activities for the children to take part in and for people keen on wildlife, rangers will look for nibbled nuts or part eaten cones and tracks on the ground, as this will indicate the wealth of wildlife we know exists amongst the trees.

The rangers will also discuss management techniques used on the site and provide the opportunity for younger walkers to use their own observation skills.  Hot refreshments will be available from the café for everyone upon their return.  Senior Ranger, Judith Arnold explained; “This has become an annual event for some of our regulars.  We see the same faces each year and it is a very sociable walk.”

There is no need to book for this popular walk.  Meet by the visitors centre at 11.00am on Boxing Day.  Wear stout footwear, as it might be muddy and wet, and warm clothing.
