Young people across the district made the most of their summer holidays last week by attending sailing and athletics courses.
Twenty young people worked towards, and completed either their stage 1, 2 or 3 RYA youth sailing qualification at Paxton Lakes Sailing Club over the 4 day course. The sailing course was run by the club with support from the leisure development team at Huntingdonshire District Council.
Almost forty young people took part in a four day athletics course at St Ivo Outdoor Complex in St Ives, run by Darrel Barsby in conjunction with the council’s leisure development team.
The young people involved were taken through the principles underpinning athletics on the first day, followed by two days participating in a wide variety of athletics events before competing in a mini olympics on the final day where all children received their certificates.
The course, which has been running for five years has proved to be a big success with the young people in the area, and always promises to be a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
There are still spaces on some of the summer activities. For more information about the summer courses and the leisure development team visit the website using the link on the right.
