Have you ever wondered what an early morning Spring bird’s song sounds like? There is an ideal opportunity to go along and find out at Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Huntingdon.
On Saturday 21 April, at 7.00 am, the park is hosting a Spring Morning Bird Walk. During the walk around the park, walkers should hear some of this year’s visitors and our resident birds - robins, green woodpeckers, blackcaps and great tits to name a few.
Hinchingbrooke Country Park Ranger, David Robinson said, “This is usually the best time of year to see and hear birds in the country park, as many of them are busy establishing territories and nest building for the new season. Some species such as song thrush may be already feeding their first clutch of youngsters. On last years walk we got great close-up views of one of our shy visitors, the grasshopper warbler and we also saw and heard four green woodpeckers.”
So, if you fancy an early morning treat of great bird song, followed by a bacon roll and a cup of tea, make sure you visit the park on 21 April. Don’t forget your binoculars if you have them, warm clothing and a pair of keen ears.
