Members of the public, businesses, architects and planners were among those that attended the successful power to the people event to find out more about renewable energy systems.

The event was held in St Ives on Wednesday 18 April in line with the commitment Huntingdonshire District Council has made towards helping tackle climate change.

The council’s environment team joined forces with the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre Anglia to promote the development and installation of renewable energy systems within Huntingdonshire.

There was information for everyone – individuals and businesses -- interested in renewable energy with the opportunity to meet installers and manufacturers and see the technologies. Businesses and individuals were able to learn about how to install renewable energy systems in their homes or businesses and traders were able to find out more about becoming renewable energy installers.

With a range of exhibitors present, there was plenty for businesses and homeowners to see and learn about micro-generation technologies such as:
• Solar water heating
• Solar electricity (Photovoltaics)
• Ground source heat pumps
• Wind turbines
• Biomass

Chris Jablonski, the District Council’s Environment Team Leader said, “The aim of the event was to raise awareness and educate people on the opportunities they have to save energy within their own businesses or households. There was a great turn out at the event and we hope to do more in the future”.
