The Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park are hosting their first ever sponsored fun run on Sunday 29 April, to raise funds for exciting new projects in the park.
You can run, walk, skip, or hop, but the aim of the day is to have as much fun as possible. All ages and abilities are welcome and you can participate as a team, a family or an individual. There will be a prize for the first over the finishing line, but there are many more chances to win including best fancy dress and youngest participant. Plus a cash prize for the most money raised and everyone who takes part is entered into a draw.
The two mile course will take you on a route around the best parts of the stunning 180 acre park and with so much wildlife to see, what other reason do you need to pull on your trainers and join in the fun.
Huntingdonshire District Council’s Countryside Ranger David Robinson, a regular runner in the park said, “If you are inspired to run, come along and raise a sweat and some cash on the fun run. We may not have big crowds like the Flora London Marathon but running in the park gives me just as much of a buzz. Where better could anyone choose to run?”
Chair of the Friends, Joyce Day explained, “Over the years we have supported the work of the rangers by providing microscopes and educational equipment and in addition our many visitors have benefited from the benches and battery operated wheelchair. Our current project is to improve the attractiveness and safety of the pedestrian entrance to the park.”
The fun run is scheduled to start at 10:30am and participants are advised to assemble at 10.00am by the countryside centre. Sponsor forms can be obtained from Sarah Price of the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park on 07967 991006.
