An exciting calendar of events has been announced at the launch of the Huntingdonshire Food and Drink festival 2007 Friday 30 March.
Local food and drink suppliers and producers were invited to attend the launch and were given the opportunity to talk to each other, and learn about how they can get be involved in the event over breakfast. All the breakfast ingredients were locally-sourced, which demonstrated the quality and the range of food available in the district.
Sponsored by Huntingdonshire District Council and commercial supporters, the festival will be a celebration of the area’s food and drink producers and suppliers. Its many events will attract local families, community groups and visitors to the area and will feature the benefits of eating well and healthy and of buying locally-produced food and drink.
Huntingdonshire’s first food and drink festival is taking place from 8 to 16 September at various venues across the district and promises to put Huntingdonshire firmly on the good food map. Further details of the festival’s events will be unveiled over the coming months.
Corrine Garbett, Economic Development Manager said, “I am really excited about Huntingdonshire’s first food and drink festival. I believe it will make a real difference to the economy of Huntingdonshire. The festival will give the kind of promotion that locally produced food and drink really deserves. We have a wealth of farmers, producers, pubs and restaurants and it is all of these businesses that are responsible for the highest quality products”.
There is still ample opportunity for participants and local businesses to be part of the festival by either sponsoring the event or organising your own event.
