A Sporting Easter Enjoyed By All (20/04/07)

Leisure development roadshow

Throughout the Easter holidays over 280 children attended various activities across the district hosted by the Leisure Development team at Huntingdonshire District Council. Nearly doubling the attendance from last year!

The courses available were golf, archery; sailing, canoeing, multi sports sessions, activity roadshows, disability tennis and disability archery. All of the courses provided the children with an opportunity to try something new in a safe and supervised environment.

The disability activities were well attended with just under 30 disabled participants energetically taking part with their parents and carers at Huntingdon Tennis Club and the St Ivo Outdoor Complex.

The Easter activities were organised by Huntingdonshire District Councils Leisure Development Team, in partnership with local sports clubs and Hemingford Abbots Golf Complex, Paxton Lakes Sailing Club, Hinchingbrooke Archery Club, and Huntingdon Tennis Club.

Youth Sport Development Officer, Martin Grey, said, “The Easter holiday programme was a great success. The roadshows were all very busy and the feedback we received from the children has all been very positive. The holiday programme is all about giving young people a taster of a range of different sports and keeping them healthy and active”.

A programme of activities will be on offer during the summer. For more details please visit our website page using the link to your right.
