Business briefings for caterers within the district have been launched by the Environmental and Community Health Services food safety team at Huntingdonshire District Council.
The briefings are aimed at helping food businesses to understand and comply with new European food laws that became law in England in January 2006.
As part of a programme of raising caterer’s awareness of these new legal requirements, the food safety team met over 100 food business operators at five different locations across the district between 5 April and 4 May 2006. At the briefings the team provided the businesses with ‘Safer Food Better Business’ packs specially designed and produced by the Food Standards Agency to help them to comply with these laws.
Sue Lammin, Head of Environmental and Community Health Services said, “The briefings have been very successful and gave businesses in the district the opportunity to work through the packs and to understand the new laws. I am very pleased with the positive responses we have received.’
If you are a caterer and have been unable to attend one of the briefing sessions and would like more information contact the food safety team on 01480 388302 to obtain your free ‘Safer Food Better Business’ pack.
