Games festivals were a success
Over 200 people have recently attended one of four free games festivals held at the Huntingdonshire District Council One Leisure centres across the district. The festivals provided participants the chance to try out different sports, watch martial art demonstrations and to also find out about local sporting clubs within the area.
Sport clubs that attended the festivals included; Paxton Lakes Sailing Club, Rotations Trampolining Club, Abbostsley & Ramsey Golf Clubs, St.Ives Aiki Do Jo, Ramsey Colts Football Club, St.Ives Table Tennis club, St.Ives Tang So Do, Old Oundle Archery Club, St.Ives Badminton Club, Ramsey Road Runners, St Neots Dragon Boat Club, Ramsey Tennis Club, Huntingdonshire Fencing Club, St Neots Crazy Skaters and Huntingdon Outdoor Bowls Club. Also available were One Leisure gym based challenges lead by Impressions instructors.
Huntingdonshire District Councillor Tom Sanderson, whose executive responsibilities include sport and active lifestyles, said, “We’ve got a big year ahead of us this year with the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games & it’s great to see families taking this on board & attending the Games Festivals. It is really pleasing to see all the clubs committing to such an event to provide participants with an afternoon of fun and enjoyment”
Upcoming events in the sport and active lifestyles diary include;
July 22nd – Sports Festival in the Park, Hinchingbrooke Country Park
