Elected Member Development

Charter for member development

The council has been awarded the Charter for Elected Member Development. South East Employers awarded the council with Charter status in July 2011 following a successful assessment against the Charter Standard, a national standard awarded for our commitment to elected member learning and development.

This national Charter recognises our commitment and performance in providing effective and comprehensive induction, development and support to our 52 members enabling them to successfully fulfil their varied and challenging roles as elected councillors for Huntingdonshire.

The benefits for the community are good quality and effective local governance, with engagement in local democracy being encouraged. Having increased knowledge and skills enables councillors to better represent and assist residents in their wards.

Councillor Nick Guyatt Deputy Executive Leader said: "This is a fantastic achievement. I am very pleased with the support councillors receive that enables us to carry out our roles effectively for the benefit of local residents. "
