The Benefits Section is here to administer the Housing and Council Tax Benefits scheme for the people of Huntingdonshire.
We aim to:
- Provide a quality Benefits service for Housing and Council Tax Benefits in accordance with legislative requirements, which aims to be responsive to the needs of its customers, both internal and external, and ensure correct information is used for assessment of entitlement.
- Visit customers to assist with their benefit claims and ensure correct information is used for assessment of entitlement.
- Consider paying Discretionary Housing Payments to help those people who do not receive full Housing or Council Tax Benefit where appropriate.
- Prevent & detect fraud in Housing and Council Tax Benefit and promote fraud awareness and our anti-fraud strategy.
- Collect Housing Benefit overpayments in accordance with our Debt Recovery Strategy and Overpayment Policy.
- Liaise effectively with internal and external customers, including The Pensions Service, The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Rent Service.
- Maintain confidentiality for all within Data Protection rules.

Yaxley
If you live in or around Yaxley, we can give you help with your benefit claim at:
Yaxley Community Information Project, Unit 7, The Broadway Shopping Centre, Yaxley.
We are there on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month between 9.30a.m. and 12.30p.m.
Ramsey
If you live in or around Ramsey we provide help at:
The Ramsey Community Project, 39 Great Whyte, Ramsey.
We are there on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
Home Visits
If you cannot get to see us and you are elderly or disabled we do have Visiting Officers who will come out to help you. Please contact us if you want a home visit.
