The summer holiday scheme is set up to provide young people with the opportunity to take part in various sport and leisure activities during their school holidays.
All courses are run in the conjunction with local sports clubs to help provide a pathway for young people to continue in a sport that they might enjoy.
The summer roadshows aim to provide access to leisure provision within some of the smaller towns and villages in the district. The roadshows are free of charge and provide a wide range of fun sporting activities.
Summer 2008
The Leisure Development 2008 summer activity programme provided hundreds of young people across the district with the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports courses and fun activities. Many of the activities were run in partnership with local clubs and organisations to create pathways for young people to join the clubs as well as providing both safe and enjoyable activities.
The 2008 programme included many of the favourite courses from past years such as Sailing, Power boating, Canoeing, Golf, Athletics and much more, as well as the fun activity Roadshow series that provided free activities in many local towns and villages.
New to the programme in 2008 was Climbing at Grafham Water Centre's Indoor Activity Hall, Mountain Biking at Hinchingbrooke Country Park run by British Cycling's Go-Ride Coach, and Basketball at St Peters School that was run by Huntingdon Hawks Basketball Club.
