Lunchtime Activities

As a result of the successful Pilot Schemes held in the summer term 2008, Lunchtime activities have been re-viewed and are now being offered to more Primary Schools within the Huntingdonshire District.

The Lunchtime activities offer fun games with a multi-skill emphasis and a rotational sporting activity offered to all the participants within the school throughout their lunch periods.

After School Clubs

Pupils ranging from year three to year six also have the opportunity to be apart of out-of-school clubs run by the District Council and its sports staff. The after school clubs have been adapted to suit the needs of the individual schools and their pupils. Year three and four participate within manipulated games aimed at learning and developing new skills within a multi-skill environment, whereas year five and six participate within a multi-sports environment participating in a wide range of sporting activities from tennis to rugby.

These activities are run as part of the Community Sports Network, looking to engage children, whilst increasing participation and reducing obesity levels of under 11's through increased provision and opportunities.

The Outcomes of the sessions are:

  • Involvement of the Whole School
  • Input from the wider school community
  • An increase in High-Quality teaching and Leading
  • The inclusion of pupils with special educational needs
